Motivation – 3 Tips to stay motivated

Motivation is a very important building rock on the way to success. No matter if it’s a financial goal or a family goal or a professional goal. Without motivation you can’t reach as much as you can WITH motivation.

Motivation is easy

When I was younger I always had a problem with motivating myself to do something. And today I know why. The reason was the goal which I needed the motivation for. Because in most of all cases the goals weren’t even my own ones. Rather it were the goals from my family, my teachers or my other environment.

It’s hard to motivate yourself if the goal isn’t what you really want. But sometimes we just don’t have another choice. Sometimes we have to finish that school or pass that exam. Or sometimes we have to stay in a job – but only till you’ve found something better!

Your „why“ is authoritativeSam Cadosch - Motivation, motivated, spring, happy - pin

A few days ago I published my article about „The why“. For the fact that this is a very important topic to stay motivated I want to summarize the most important part of this article:

Your „why“ is the purpose and the reason why you do something. The reason why you started. And if you don’t know what you’re working for, you probably won’t work for that goal with 110% until you reached it. You’ll not mind if you don’t achieve the goal. And the probability that you give up and do something else is much higher if you don’t know your why.

But if you KNOW your „why“ and the fact why you want to reach this goal, then you’ll achieve it. With the right motivation.

Maybe you have a great goal, but still don’t know exactly where to start and you can’t find the right motivation. We all know this struggle.

Here are my 3 top tips for more motivation!

Let’s go!

3 tips for more motivation

These 3 tips helped me personally enormously to stay motivated! Also it’s 6.22 a.m. at the moment while I’m writing this article. Who would get up before 6 am if he didn’t have to? Me! Because I’m motivated as fuck and I love to work for my goals! ??

Yeah, and here are my three tips:

#1 The reward

Even the word „reward“ gives us a nice feeling, when we hear it. Because we all love rewards. But we also know that we first have to do something to deserve a reward.

And that’s what I’m talking about. If you have a goal and need motivation to reach it, then set a reward. Something you look forward to while you’re working on your goal.

You want to reach your bodygoal? Then your reward could be a special meal at the weekend or a day without workout.

You want to achieve a financial goal?

Then your reward could be something material you want to buy. But you buy it only when you achieved that special goal. Even you could afford it earlier.

#2 Pen and paper

Always when I have a new goal I write it down. And not only the goal, but all its positive aspects that I want to enjoy when I achieved it.

Some months ago I started to train again. And before I started, I wrote down why I want to reach that goal and what the positive aspects with it are.

With writing it down there’s one very important thing: Don’t write things like „Better looking“ or „Healthier life“. Always write in present and in I-form.

Like this:

  • I have a trained body
  • I feel fit and healthy
  • I get compliments for my fitness success
  • I increase my power each day
  • I eat healthy and feel great with it
  • I have a better concentration since I train

This „I-form“ and the present have the benefit that it talks directly to your subconscious. And that’s really important. Your subconscious has to believe it.

If you do your workout and think „Oh, I’ll stay fat anyway so why I do I do that?“ then you’ll never succeed. And that counts for every area of life. I just took sports as an example cause it’s easy to explain.

Yeah… and when you wrote down your motivational sentences – hang up this piece of paper somewhere where you always can see it. Cause it wouldn’t be the same if you just write it down once and then never read it through again. Of course you can also do this in a electronic way. Maybe you want to design a beautiful background for your smartphone with your motivational sentences on it. That’s also a great solution!

But write it down by hand at least once. Because by writing with our hands, we activate another region of our brain.

#3 Tell others about your goal

Sometimes we just need obligation and some kind of positive pressure from the outside. And that’s why it can be very helpful to involve your friends and family into your goals. Because you don’t want to fail while they’re watching!

If you’re the only one that knows about your goal it’s easy to give up or to find an excuse. But if there are other people that know it, it’s not that easy because you need to explain your excuse not only yourself but also to all the others. And deep inside you know it’s just an excuse.

If you want, you can also make your goals public and post them on Social Media to let your followers see your results and the progress.

The advantages of it:

  • Maybe someone else that sees your post is following the same goal. So you two could exchange.
  • And if you want to give up one day I’m sure you don’t want to tell all your followers, that you gave up. 😉

Moreover, it can be that suddenly your friends, family and followers push you and help you to reach your goal. And believe me: This is pure motivation!

So here we go
